Homemade Pizza Dough

Easy simple best homemade garlic pizza dough crust recipe

Pizza is a favorite in our household! I cook it at least once a week and we haven't gotten sick of it yet! This pizza dough makes a beautiful crust that's crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and full of flavor! My husband and I always have a "her side" and "his side"; of course, his is the one with the extra meat.๐Ÿ˜‚

I always cook my pizza on a foil-lined pan, because I can roll my dough out on the foil and then just slide it onto the pan. Plus, clean-up's a breeze! My husband tried to get me to use a pizza stone one time but we did not get along too well๐Ÿ˜’...so I switched back to my old trusty foil-lined pan. This recipe has been tweaked by me and my husband over and over again until we got it just right! I use a stand mixer in this recipe but it can also be done by hand as well. I hope you enjoy!๐Ÿ˜‹

Ingredients:

Directions:
  1. Stir: Pour warm water into a bowl and sprinkle yeast over the water. Add sugar and gently stir. Allow to rest while you mix the dry ingredients.
  2. Mix: In a stand mixer bowl, combine flour, salt, and garlic powder. Attach a dough hook and on low speed slowly mix in olive oil and yeast solution. A ball of dough should form. Allow the mixer to knead the dough for 5 minutes on medium speed. The dough should be slightly sticky.
  3. Rise: Coat a large bowl with olive oil and toss dough ball in the oil. Cover bowl with a damp towel and place in a warm spot for about an hour until dough has doubled in size.
  4. Roll: Overlap 2 pieces of foil to a size at least one inch wider than your pizza pan. Lightly coat with olive oil and sprinkle with cornmeal. Place risen dough in the middle and lightly sprinkle with flour. With a floured rolling pin, roll dough to the size of your pizza pan. If dough doesn't stretch, allow to rest for 5 minutes and try again. Holding both pieces of foil together, slide your pizza pan under the foil.
  5. Fold: With your fingertips, stretch edges of dough out and tuck under about an inch to make a border.
  6. Bake: Preheat oven to 500°F. Coat top of crust with olive oil and poke holes all across the inside of the border with a fork. (This prevents large bubbles from forming in your dough while baking.) Bake crust for 5 minutes.
  7. Top: Once crust is out of the oven, top with pizza sauce and all your favorite pizza toppings. (I usually lightly drizzle olive oil or melted butter on top before the pizza goes in the oven.)
  8. Bake: Place pizza in oven and bake 7 more minutes until crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
  9. Slice, serve, and enjoy!๐Ÿ˜‹
